UPDATE 8/11/24. (This code originally released 1/6/24) Code now comes with a comment compatible version! Felt like a big enough new addition that I should bump it up on my journal. :) Retrieve the comment compatible version down in the comments, appropriately! Original release post follows.
Hello friends! WISHLIST is a fairly straightforward checklist code. What makes it extra special is that it comes with a spreadsheet that will automatically generate the journal code for you!
While poking about DW, I found someone (
unclouded) using a code of mine for an RP Wishlist -- listing out specific scene ideas, character development points, and general inspo for writing and roleplaying with a specific character. I thought that idea was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC as a way to better inspire logs/narratives and be more direct about what you'd like out of a character. So.... I spent the ensuing days letting the idea get way more massive than I'd originally intended. And here we are. lmao
Using the spreadsheet linked below, you can fill in a checklist, customize headers/categories and colors. If you'd like to skip the generator and crack into the code itself, head down to the comments of this post. I'll post the raw code there.
GET THE SPREADSHEET HERE
HOW TO USE:
❣️ When using the generator spreadsheet, the final code is generated in one big blob that may be somewhat difficult to crack into. I've included a raw version of the code formatted in my traditional commented out way down in the comments of this post.
❣️ Mind the lj-raw tags!
❣️ This code is both mobile and InsaneJournal compatible! It has a comment compatible version available in the comments!
❣️ Instructions for use are on the spreadsheet. Just be sure to look over the "START HERE" page.
❣️ The comment compatible version of the code is not available through the spreadsheet generator at this time. You'll have to manually assemble it.
❣️ Some cells and sheets in the spreadsheet are protected and will prompt you with a warning to stop you from editing them. Technically, you can edit anything in the spreadsheet if you're stubborn enough, though. 🤷
❣️ I am happy to provide support for the code or spreadsheet, however, if you've extensively edited the sheet itself, I can't promise I'll be able to help you! If you're experiencing a LOT of issues after making an edit to the sheet, try redownloading the sheet from this source and starting over.
❣️ This code comes with a credit by default. Appreciate it if you leave it in, but you can delete if you want! :) It's at the top of the code this time, but it's still clearly marked.
❣️ I love peeking at what people do with my codes, so feel free to comment if you use! If you're feeling generous, you can also donate to my ko-fi -- it's always greatly appreciated!

(frozen comment) RAW CHECKLIST CODE

Ideally, what I want to do with this is be able to put one or two checklists in a comment on an entry, similar to what you have with "flash cards". I know that comments are more limited in what kind of code will work in them, but when I tested this code out, it looked pretty decent. Would you possibly happen to have any ideas for how to adapt this code to get it to display the margins/padding around the far edge of the table? If not, or if it's too complicated, then no big deal! I just thought I'd ask.

Only thing I cannot replicate is the max height of 300px, because the specific function to generate scrollbars on divs doesn't work in comments. You still can add as many line items as you want (copy pasting WISH items) and the code will scale vertically. :)
