code: LETTERHEAD - a set of basic decorative text boxes
LETTERHEAD
a textbox code
Merry Draftsmas! The first code of the draftsmas release block is a simple text wrapper to snazz up short to medium blocks of text like announcements, game info pages, thread starters, and flash reactions. It comes in six seasonal flavors with an additional customizable blank template. Come check it out!
Merry Draftsmas! The first code I'm releasing in the draftsmas set is one made specifically for this content release block. You can see it in use on the draftsmas announcement post, linked above.
The code itself is a pretty straightforward text box, intended to be used for small-to-medium blocks of text. Things like IC letters, announcements, flash reactions, thread starters, and small ic/oocs. This set includes six pre-styled templates and one blank DIY template, all available at the bottom of this post. Instructions for customizing are included below.
HOW TO USE:
❣️ Mind those lj-raw tags!!
❣️ This code is mobile compatible and insanejournal friendly! The fact that some of the corners disappear off the edges of the screen on mobile displays is intentional.
❣️ This code is completely comment compatible!
❣️ All top images came from either pixabay or onlyGFX (the cloud). The skull was slightly edited by me. These are all hosted at imgur, so you shouldn't need to change the URL or anything.
❣️ Works best when placed under an LJ-cut, but if your journal's layout has wide entry pages, it can work without one!
❣️ This code works best for small to medium amounts of text (max 5 - 6 standard paragraphs). It's great for announcement posts, flash reactions, informational pages for games, and thread starters, but it might get a little wonky if you post really huge bodies of text in it like long histories or full logs.
❣️ You do not need actual header text. Simply delete the !!HEADER TEXT!! and leave it blank to get rid of it. It won't donk the code up.
❣️ Text for the body is set to align to the left by default. You can change this to center, justify, or right by changing the text-align:left under the 'CONTENTS' section of the code.
❣️ By default the font is very large because my eyes are bad and tired. To change this (the code, not my eyes), at the very top of the code, find 'font-size: clamp(12px, 1vw, 14px)' and set 14px to the actual size you'd like the text to be, and 12px to minus 1 - 2 of that size. Don't mess with the 1vw.
❣️ IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FURTHER CUSTOMIZE THE CODE:
❣️ This code comes with a credit by default. Appreciate it if you leave it in, but you can delete if you want! :)
❣️ I love peeking at what people do with my codes, so feel free to comment if you use! If you're feeling generous, you can also donate to one of the charities listed on the main draftmas hub post.

❣️ IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FURTHER CUSTOMIZE THE CODE:
- Grab the 'blank template' at the very bottom of this post.
- Pick out a header image and replace the IMG_URL with the url for that image. Your header image must be transparent to work properly, and works best if its dimensions are landscape-oriented rectangle or square.
- Customize the gradients under the 'THE BORDERS' part of the code! You can use this CSS gradient generator to create your own gradients. You'll want to replace all three instances of 'radial-gradient(circle, rgba(18,111,178,1) 19%, rgba(163,202,231,0.49) 100%);'
- To change the header color, go to the 'A LIL PIZZAZ' section, find color:#fff, and change #fff to whatever color you'd like the text to be. IMO white (#fff) or an off-white looks best in most instances.
- To change the color of the body text, find and replace hex code #126fb2 with the color you'd like. It'll be at the very top of the code.
- To change the color of the background shadow on the header text, find and replace hex code #5496d0. You'll find it in the 'A LIL PIZZAZZ' section.

CODES ARE BELOW!
VERSION 1: winter-themed
VERSION 2: floral-themed
VERSION 3: valentine
VERSION 4: spooky or pirates or whatever
VERSION 5: partly cloudy
VERSION 6: it's purple
USE THE GENERIC PURPLE ONE FOR LONGER HEADERS
This generic purple one looks best when paired with a header that is a full sentence. If the header text is short or absent, it looks a little bizarre, imo, like it's missing something.

This is the blank template. TBH it's just the winter template with the URL for the image removed. Sunglasses emoji.
